Pinky Swear Kids Triathlon
Kids can swim, bike and run in support of kids with cancer and their families at the Hy-Vee Pinky Swear Kids Triathlon on Saturday, August 13, at the Bettendorf YMCA. Pinky Swear Kids Triathlon events are the largest youth fundraising triathlons in the world. In 2015, the Pinky Swear Kids Triathlons attracted more than 2,200 participants and raised more than $1,131,000 for Pinky Swear Foundation. The non-timed and non-competitive races for kids ages 6-18 of all abilities are followed by a festival for the whole family.

Teach your young kids to cook with fun-filled kids cooking classes! The Hy-Vee dietitian will show and help your kids how to prepare fun and tasty recipes your kids will love. Each child will get to enjoy recipes created in class. Recommended ages: 4-7. Classes are held on a monthly basis.
This new hands-on cooking class is offered for older kids who love spending time in the kitchen. Junior chefs work in groups to prepare a healthy 3-course meal. At the end of class, Junior Chefs enjoy the meal as a group. Recommended ages: 8-13. Classes are held on a monthly basis.
Hy-Vee KidsFit™ is a fun, at-home program designed for kids and families to help promote health, exercise and nutrition as a priority in our daily lives. Begin 4 kids
Begin® 4 kids is a new fun way of learning what to eat, how to eat and how to exercise. The program is set to fit age groups ranging from 3-5 through 14-18 years old. Begin 4 kids is a 4-week lifestyle management program with an emphasis on food groups, activity and eating for good health. This program can be held in-store or out in the community. Classes offered annually at select stores, or as requested.
Hy-Vee One Step – Get Out and Grow Program
One Step – Get Out and Grow garden and cooking program is an innovative and forward-thinking program with the goal of helping children plant the seeds of healthy habits that will last a lifetime. The program is focused on children ages 4 and up in the local community to help reduce the growing rate of childhood obesity. Children are involved in the planting, maintaining, harvesting, prepping, and cooking vegetables from the garden.
Hy-Vee One Step Objectives:
• Children making healthier choices through increased fruit and vegetable intake.
• Teaching the connection of fresh food and good health.
• Teaching preparation of healthier meals.
• Reinforcing positive perceptions of healthy foods.
Kids eat free every Tuesday, with the purchase of an adult meal from the Market Grille.
