UNIQUE VBS PROGRAMS
*Many of these VBS experiences are similar – faith, fun and fellowship – through crafts, singing, and lessons offering our kids a chance to grow closer to God, focus on Christian themes, and have fun. However, two that I know are unique and exceptional and don’t necessarily follow a traditional VBS mold are Bethany Baptist and Two Rivers UMC.
Bethany Baptist lives up to its promise for a “high-energy outdoor adventure” and is a fun option for an evening experience. Hosted outside at Stephens Park, rather than at the church, Bethany’s VBS offers a lot of hands-on action. For the past 4 years, our kids have played T-ball while this VBS is happening so we’ve seen how much fun everyone is having! The water games and music are definitely ones you want to be experiencing. In it’s ninth year at Stephens Park, Bethany Baptist VBS concludes on Friday, July 16 at “Family Night” including a free meal and music CD for every family.
Two Rivers United Methodist also offers a different kind of VBS experience: “Instead of the traditional crafts, songs, and Bible stories, Two Rivers is putting together their second annual STEAM [Science Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Music] Creators’ Camp.” Campers will rotate through their choice of two of five workshop options with hands-on fun such as ukelele lessons, science experiments and demonstrations, computer programming Sphero robots and art workshops. Each day closes with a group mission project.
I love that God is present in all elements of life and this is a creative way to show our kids how He’s involved in all aspects. I can’t wait to have our boys attend the Two Rivers VBS this year!
