As I’ve shared before, I LOVE giving gifts. Father’s Day is coming and I have some suggestions for the dads and granddads in your life.
FOR THE SPORTSING DAD
Bench in a bag, foldable bench, sports bench
There are a lot of options for these products from relatively inexpensive without a back to deluxe with backed seating and a canopy. Also, they are offered in different seat counts (4, 6, 8, etc). PortableSportsCoach.com ranked the best soccer benches for 2017. It’s great for dads that coach or have kids in sports.
Another one for the sports dad is a water cooler. This always comes in handy whether it’s Igloo, Rubbermaid or some other brand — we all need a refreshing drink. Besides being useful at athletic events, the larger ones are great for hosting the post-season party. Again, there are various sizes. I’d suggest at least a five gallon cooler. You can find bigger (7 gal., 10 gal., etc) or smaller (2 gal.).
Framed race bibs
The journey is the reward for most dads running races. Memories of the miles put in prior to that significant 5K or triathlon can make framing race bibs especially meaningful.
FOR THE PROFESSIONAL DAD
This is a subscription box with manly dress accessories. The website explains: “Our stylists curate the perfect box of men’s fashion and lifestyle products, delivered straight to the recipient’s doorstep.” It typically includes a tie, dress socks, and other products. Each order promises 5-6 items worth at least $100. My brother dresses up for work most days and really recommends this gift.
FOR THE-KID-AT-HEART DADh
QC Family Entertainment arcade game cards
For his dad’s birthday this year, our oldest son decided to give Luke a night playing video games. “It was awesome!” according to Charles (and Luke). Plan a date night for Dad and kids, or Dad and his friends. A tip: you can usually find coupons for buy $10, get $10 in free game cards from the Major Saver Cards sold at most area schools, Deal of the Day, or in the Valpak. Also, Mondays at QC Family Entertainment are 1/2 price night for many of the games.
FOR THE HANDY DAD
Magical Grip and the Cobra Bit
I’m going to be honest here: I haven’t actually purchased these yet, but I think they look amazing. The reviews are decent and they aren’t too expensive. My husband thinks the Cobra Bit looks super handy.
FOR THE SENTIMENTAL GRANDDAD
A stone garden of grandchildren names
A friend of ours got her mother stones with each grandchild’s name engraved. We liked the idea so much, we purchased a set for my husband’s parents. It’s such a fun addition to their flower garden. We purchased ours from [email protected] They partner with Quint City Stone Center.
I’m a sucker for photos and love the Father’s Day gift idea in Heather’s blog about DIY gifts. Also, I think finding photos of dads just being dads is one of the best ways we can truly honor who they are. Framing the every day can be a great present.
Some of the best gifts are straight from the heart. I can’t help but encourage everyone to print off these Father’s Day coloring pages.
