FUN AT QUAD CITIES LIBRARIES: STAY IN THE KNOW ABOUT WHAT’S HAPPENING

Some of the best activities for kids in the Quad Cities take place at our local libraries and almost all of them are free! From giveaway book nights to story time to craft projects to library cards, our family has embraced all our area has to offer!

Our 3-year-old having fun at a craft night at the Rock Island Public Library

One of my proudest mom moments took place just last week when my 9 year-old-son logged on to the Rock Island Library website (with his own library card number and password), requested a book (The Titan’s Curse – Percy Jackson) and had it delivered to the 30/31 branch library near our home. Hurray! I have raised a library patron!!

There are so many amazing events that take place at the local libraries, it’s hard to know about them all. The easiest way I’ve found (besides hearing about events from momversations with my village) is to Like/follow local libraries on Facebook and sign up for their email newsletters. To help you out, I’ve gathered links here:

Bettendorf Public Library: Facebook page and Pages Newsletter

Davenport Public Library: Facebook page and Email newsletter

East Moline Library Facebook page and newsletter sign up is on the right-hand side of their homepage

LeClaire Community Library Facebook page and e-newsletter sign up is on the right-hand side of their homepage

Moline Public Library Facebook page and email newsletter

River Valley District Library (Port Byron, IL): Facebook page and online newsletter

Rock Island Public Library: Facebook page and newletter sign-up

Scott County Library System (Eldridge, IA) : Facebook page and email newsletter

Most of these libraries also have a Twitter account and some even have Instagram, so if those are platforms you use, be sure to check them out. Most are prominently displayed on the homepages of the library websites.

Did I miss any of your favorite local libraries (because we all know the Quad Cities are more than four cities!)?

Great to have all of this info in one spot. And it reminded me that summer reading programs are not all that far away! With all the info in one spot, I’ll be sure not to miss them! Thanks Meghan.
