Our library reading program is over. School is gearing up to start at the end of the month. But I don’t want my kids to quit their momentum in their reading. I created this Book Bingo for the month of August so they could add some fun into their bookish-ness. You’ll notice the squares aren’t even going up and across, so you can get a bingo however you want!
You only have time to fill in a couple of squares? Get a Book Bingo diagonally with just two squares. Have a little more free time during the remaining lazy hazy days of summer? Try to fill in all six spaces in one of the vertical columns. Think you can make the most of the month? Get a Blackout Book Bingo by completing every single challenge!
As the mom, you can participate too! Getting your bookish-ness on is just as important as it is for the kids! Download and print one for everyone in the family. Or you could print just one Book Bingo and initial in the squares to keep track of all of yours on one page. You can make it a contest, unless you have a pair of brothers like my family does. In which case, I would absolutely NOT include competition in the deal!
There aren’t any rules- you can count kid books you read out loud, magazines, comic books, whatever! The point of August Book Bingo is simply to make reading fun! I’d love to know how it turns out for you! If you love it, I could make one for you every month!
If you don’t have an animal to read to, the Davenport Public Library is have a “Read to a Dog” event on August 12.
Want some recommendations for books for some of the categories? I’ve included some links for Young Adult books with red covers, (you can also just google “children’s books with red covers), books from other countries and fantastic mysteries for all ages!
